“I use the term radical in its original meaning - getting down to and understanding the root cause. It means facing a system that does not lend itself to your needs and devising means by which you can change that system” Ella Baker, 1969
Hello,
I’m interrupting our usual schedule to let you know I’ll be running a free online writing workshop on SUNDAY 16TH of OCTOBER.
RADICAL MEMOIR WRITING is an application of Angela Davis's offering that "radical simply means grasping things at the root." It is writing that is committed to making the personal political. It is writing that moves beyond yourself by writing through yourself. It is writing that treats our lives as fertile ground for theorising.
Critical theory has many to offer memoir writers: concepts, ideas, imaginings and tools to explore our entangled relationships with the world(s).
